Meta Ads in October 2026: AI Assistants, Product Browsing and a Pre-Black Friday Checklist

Meta-Ads-October-2026
Meta-Ads

October 2026 brought a cluster of Meta Ads changes just before the busiest shopping weeks of the year. At Advertising Week in New York on 6 October, Meta made video generation from static images generally available in Advantage+ creative and started testing an AI business assistant that can build and edit campaigns from a chat prompt. Then came two dated changes advertisers need to act on: product browsing switches on for existing ads on 28 October unless you opt out, and new ad terms take effect on 30 October. Here is what each one means and what to check before Black Friday on 27 November.

What Meta announced on 6 October

  • Static-to-video in Advantage+ creative. You can generate short video versions of existing product images. This is generally available, so it is worth a controlled test.
  • Ads Creative Studio, wider rollout. Meta’s creative tool, with options to change hooks, audio and clip length, reached more advertisers.
  • An AI business assistant that makes changes. Meta began testing an assistant that can create campaigns, change targeting and adjust budgets when you ask in plain language. It is still in testing, and it should not be left unsupervised.
  • Customer Lifecycle Strategy for all advertisers. This affects how your acquisition budget is directed between new and existing customers, so review your acquisition campaign settings.

Product browsing switches on for existing ads on 28 October

Advertisers reported a notice from Meta on 14 October saying product browsing will be turned on by default for ads that are already running, from 28 October, unless you opt out. In practice, people who tap your ad may land in a browsable product experience rather than going straight to the page you chose.

That can help an online shop and hurt a lead-generation campaign, because it changes where the visitor lands. If you sell from a catalogue, test it deliberately on one campaign. If you run lead ads or send people to a specific landing page or to WhatsApp, check the setting in your ad creative and destination options and switch it off where it does not fit. If you are reading this after 28 October, open Ads Manager and look now.

New ad terms from 30 October

Meta updated its Commercial Terms and Self-Serve Ad Terms, effective 30 October. Industry summaries highlight three points:

  • Meta may run tests that affect how your campaigns are delivered and which creatives are shown, without advance notice.
  • You remain responsible for AI-generated content in your ads, even when Meta’s own tools produced it.
  • Meta gains broader rights relating to your website, including crawling it.

Continuing to run ads after the effective date counts as acceptance, so read the terms yourself or ask whoever manages your account to. This is not legal advice.

On Google’s side

Industry trackers also report asset experiments for Performance Max rolling out to all advertisers in early October, and new budget and channel controls in mid-October. These features roll out gradually, so check whether they have reached your account before planning around them.

A pre-Black Friday checklist

  1. Fix your tracking first. Confirm your pixel and conversion events fire correctly, ideally with server-side tracking. Every AI-driven tool is only as good as the signal you feed it.
  2. Decide on product browsing per campaign. Opt out where you want people on a specific page.
  3. Test creative variety, not just audiences. With broad targeting becoming the default, creative is the lever you control. Run several distinct angles rather than five versions of the same image.
  4. Test static-to-video on a small budget. Compare it against your best existing creative before scaling.
  5. Keep a human in charge of AI changes. If you try the assistant, review every budget or targeting change before it goes live, and keep a note of what changed and why.
  6. Label AI content where required, and keep claims honest. Meta holds you responsible for AI-generated content in your ads, and health and beauty claims are a common reason for rejection. “Helps skin look brighter” is a cosmetic claim; “cures acne” is a medical claim and is likely to be rejected.
  7. Protect your landing page. A slow or confusing page wastes the click. See our Core Web Vitals checklist.
  8. Make it easy to respond. For many Pakistani shops, the sale happens in WhatsApp or Messenger. Reply fast, or automate the first reply.
  9. Set budgets and stop-loss rules before the sale starts. Costs usually rise as Black Friday approaches. Decide in advance what a good and a bad day look like.
  10. Check the new terms. Make sure whoever manages your account has read them.

Frequently asked questions

Should I let Meta’s AI assistant manage my campaigns?

It is still in testing. Use it as a helper that proposes changes you approve, not as an autopilot.

Will product browsing hurt my results?

It depends on the campaign. It may suit a catalogue shop and may not suit lead generation. Test one campaign before changing everything.

Is it worth advertising in the weeks before Black Friday?

Many advertisers find costs rise, but so does buying intent. The advertisers who plan creative and tracking early are the ones who cope best.

The short version

AI is moving into the centre of Meta’s ad tools. That makes good tracking, varied creative and careful human review more valuable, not less. Check product browsing before 28 October, read the new terms before 30 October, and test new features on small budgets.
